Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game made by ninjamuffin99, PhantomArcade, evilsk8r and kawaisprite. You play as Boyfriend, who has to win singing battles against a string of opponents, starting with his girlfriend's father, to keep dating her.

Each song is a battle. Arrows scroll up the screen, and you hit the matching arrow key as each one reaches the top. Hold notes have to be held to the end, and missing too many notes loses you the song. The story is split into weeks, each with its own opponent and songs, and Freeplay lets you replay any song you have unlocked. You can raise the difficulty for faster, denser charts.

Its open-source code led to a huge modding scene, which is why so many FNF mods exist, including several on UBGHyper.

Controls. Arrow keys or W A S D: hit the matching notes. Enter: confirm and pause.

Tips:

• Look at the target arrows at the top, not the notes coming up.
• Use WASD and the arrow keys at the same time to split the work between two hands.
• Practise a hard song in Freeplay before the story week.
• Hold notes until the trail ends; letting go early is a miss.
