About Brotato

Brotato is a top-down arena shooter roguelite by Blobfish. You play a potato holding up to six weapons at once, fighting off waves of aliens in a small arena. Your weapons fire on their own, so your job is movement: dodge, kite enemies into your line of fire, and pick up the materials they drop.

Each wave lasts a set time, and between waves you visit a shop. Materials buy new weapons, upgrades and items, and you choose stat upgrades when you level up. Combining weapons of the same type upgrades them to a higher tier. A run is 20 waves, ending in a boss fight, and every run plays differently depending on what the shop offers.

Characters change everything. Each potato has its own traits, strengths and drawbacks, which push you towards different builds: melee brawlers, ranged turrets, glass cannons and odd challenge characters. Finding a build that works for each one is most of the fun.

Brotato is a web port of the full game, free to play unblocked at UBGHyper with no download.

How to play Brotato

Controls. WASD or arrow keys: move. Weapons aim and fire automatically. Use the mouse in the shop and level-up screens.

Tips:

  • Keep moving in wide circles; standing still is how runs end.
  • Collect materials before a wave ends: anything left on the ground at the end of the wave is lost.
  • Combine duplicate weapons to raise their tier instead of filling every slot with different ones.
  • Pick a direction for your build (melee, ranged, elemental) and shop for it.
